"Day & Ross Purchases Wesbell Logistics"

Wesbell Logistics, Mississauga, Ontario, a company that provides trucking and distribution services in central and eastern Canada, has been sold to Day & Ross Transportation Group, a division of McCain Foods Limited.

Wesbell specializes in dedicated contract carriage and automotive parts delivery services, said Doug Christensen, managing director of Chapman Associates, a Schaumberg Ill., firm that represented the company in the sale to Day & Ross.

"The transaction created a significant amount of interest within both strategic and private equity buyers," Christensen said. "The market for these types of companies remains very strong and robust."

Wesbell Logistics was one of three lines of business for the Wesbell Group of Cos. The others are Wesbell Technologies and Wesbell OEM Quality Assurance.

Paul Mazze, president of Wesbell Group, said the company sold the business so that it could focus on other areas.

"we have always believed that our dedicated transportation division had the potential to grow," he said, "but with our desire to focus on other core areas of our business, we felt that the best means to leverage the distinct advantages of Wesbell Logistics was through a combination with a great strategic partner."     -Transportation Topics (published week 3-3-08)
